Abstract

Construction of Bioinspired Catalytic System with Specific Reaction Environment

Cobalamin (B12) catalyzes various reactions in biological systems. One of the characteristic reactions of B12 is the dehalogenation reaction. In this reaction, B12 can decompose harmful compounds such as organic chlorides. In the catalytic cycle, the formation of super-nucleophilic Co(I) species by the reduction of B12 is very important. We prepared B12/TiO2 hybrid catalyst where TiO2 was used as a photosensitizer. Although the B12/TiO2 catalyzes various organic reaction, the reaction proceeded in UV light irradiation due to large bandgap of TiO2. We synthesized visible-light responsive TiO2 by interfacial complexation with catechol on TiO2 surface. We prepared visible-light responsive B12/TiO2 catalyst, and evaluated its catalytic ability for the molecular transformations under visible-light irradiation.
